Schneider Electric’s Wiser Air with Eco IQ Removes the Guesswork from Smart Thermostats

Have you ever craved a blast of warm air after coming in from the cold, or a quick burst of cool air after a vigorous exercise session in your  home gym? Sure, you can always readjust the setting of your home’s thermostat for a warm up or cool down, but thanks to new technology incorporated into Schneider Electric’s Wiser Air Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat, you don’t have to mess with the settings of the stat. Instead you can just press the Comfort Boost button (on the thermostat or Wiser app on your smartphone) for temporary relief.

It’s just one of the unique features afforded by the company’s new Eco IQ self-learning feature. Instead of requiring users to constantly enter desired temperature setpoints – a common requirement of most commercially available smart thermostats on the market today – users now only need to provide feedback when they’re not comfortable. The new feature takes the guesswork out of determining what temperature is optimal for users and allows Eco IQ to quickly learn and leverage feedback to create a comfortable heating and cooling plan.

In addition to producing a more comfortable and efficient environment, Wiser Air with Eco IQ combines Schneider Electric’s weather service, WeatherSentry, the number one ranked forecasting service for nine consecutive years. Utilizing these forecasts, the Eco IQ feature learns how long it takes to change the temperature in the home in all types of weather and plans ahead to start heating or cooling just in time to hit users’ preferred target temperatures.

Featuring a smartphone style, high-resolution 3.5 inch color touchscreen and a plug-and-play design, Wiser Air with Eco IQ is easy to install and intuitive to operate. Users simply tell Eco IQ how to prioritize comfort vs. savings, and Wiser does the rest. It syncs seamlessly with its smartphone app to create a unified user experience across any device or operating system. The thermostat, with rich hardware and Wi-Fi capability, supports automatic software updates, giving users access to the latest technology advancements over time. Existing Wiser Air users will receive an update that includes Eco IQ. Once the feature is enabled by the user, they will be able to incorporate the self-learning feature into their thermostats.

Other interesting features that can be engaged from the learning thermostat include Humidity Balance, which removes moisture from the air to increase comfort and provide a healthier home environment, and Wiser Pulse, which shows users on the screen of the stat what their HVAC system is doing.

This summer, Wiser Air will seamlessly sync with Amazon Alexa, which will enable voice control of Wiser Air. Users will be able to take advantage of this new feature with their current devices through Wiser Air’s automatic updates.

Schneider Electric’s Wiser Air with the new Eco IQ self-learning feature is currently available for $239 at select Microsoft Stores, the first brick and mortar retailer to sell Wiser, and online at Home Depot, Amazon, Best Buy, NewEgg, Controls Central, APC.com and other retailers.
