Nest Thermostat Responds to the Wave of the Hand

Being able to control devices in your home through voice commands is all the rage, but there’s another method that’s been gaining steam recently: gesture control. Instead of using your voice you use hand signals to tell things what to do. It’s just one more way the smart, connected home is becoming easier to manage.

eyeSight Technologies is making it possible to operate a NEST thermostat with the introduction of  singlecue Gen 2. In the singlecue app, users can add Nest Thermostat as a climate device and create a new climate activity on their singlecue Gen 2 device. Once users sync their singlecue Gen 2 device with the app, they can control the temperature (up or down) by a simple wave of a finger. This means consumers never have to leave the comfort of their living room or search for their phone to adjust the temperature.

“Connected consumers are looking for new ways to simplify interactions with their smart home products and new technology that seamlessly integrates with their lives,” says Gideon Shmuel, CEO of eyeSight Technologies. “We’re thrilled to announce our integration with Nest, adding our first smart thermostat to the platform, as it will not only give users instant control of the temperature in their home, but it’s another step towards our vision of enriching the everyday consumer experience and interactions with their smart home devices.”

singlecue Gen 2 is compatible with more than 1,200 brands and 100,000 devices, including Philips Hue and Apple TV. In addition to reducing complexity and boosting user experience, singlecue Gen 2 features an interactive set-up tutorial and the ability to learn new devices. Through the device’s InfraRed (IR) learning capabilities, users can seamlessly expand the number of devices controlled by gesture in their home.

singlecue Gen 2 retails for $149.
