Hot on the heels of last week’s introduction of
three budget projectors, Optoma today unveiled two 240-Hz-capable 4K Ultra HD projectors aimed at home theater and gaming enthusiasts.
With “estimated street prices” of $1,599 and $1,299, the new UHD50X and UHD30 projectors are equipped with an HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 input and a gaming mode said to produce a smoother gaming experience by reducing input lag with 1080p to 16 milliseconds (ms) at 240 Hz and to 25 ms at 60 Hz with 4K content. Both support HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma) high dynamic range (HDR), can project images up to 302 inches (diagonal), and are described as suitable for “environments with high ambient light” with a rated brightness of 3,400 lumens and rated contrast ratio of 500,000:1.
Other shared features include ±40° keystone correction, a full-function remote control, and a 12-volt trigger for use with motorized screens. The UHD50X is equipped with a 10% vertical lens shift and 1.3x optical zoom, while the UHD30 is limited to 1.1x; both have a 0.8-2.0 digital zoom.
Optoma also announced the availability of the budget-priced HD146X, which carries an estimated street price of $549. The projector is capable of beaming images up to 301 inches and is equipped with a gaming mode said to reduce input lag to 16ms at 60Hz as well as a game display mode that “enhances shadow detail and dark scenes.” Other features include ±40° keystone correction, 1.1x optical zoom, and rated brightness of 3,600 lumens and rated contrast ratio of 25,000:1.
The lamp used in all three models is rated to last up to 15,000 hours in Dynamic Black Mode, 10,000 hours in Eco Mode, or 4,000 hours in Bright Mode.
