Recognizing this as potentially hindering Alexa from becoming a whole-house control solution, Amazon recently introduced a new version of the Echo Dot that sells for $49.99, so you can afford to outfit several rooms of your house with Alexa-based voice control capabilities. The new Echo Dot embodies a sleek and compact design, is available in either black or white, and has the same array of seven microphones found in Amazon Echo. It also features a more powerful speech processor to deliver improved far-field speech recognition accuracy. If you’re worried about all these Dots getting confused over which one is supposed to respond to your command, Amazon has worked that into the new Dot design. The company’s new ESP technology is intelligently calculates the clarity of your voice and determines which Echo is best to respond to the request. This feature is smart, meaning performance improves over time.
