Wireless Music Streaming: Naim Uniti Can Play, Rip and Store

The British audio manufacturer Naim Audio has announced its new Uniti range of audio components. Designed to meet the needs of today’s music listener with features to play digital audio, including streaming media, the line is available through the company’s American distributor Audio Plus Services.

Naim developed the line of products through its four-plus decades of manufacturing experience, and describes Uniti as its “most advanced all-in-one music streaming platform.”

“The new Uniti range is the result of years of development, designing and building these systems from the ground up,” says Steve Sells, electronic design director, Naim Audio. “From the user interface and apps, to the interior electronics through to the premium materials used, we have meticulously designed the Uniti range to deliver the ultimate audio performance for a one-stop wireless solution.”

Details & Specs

The new Uniti family consists of three all-in-one players:

  • Compact yet powerful Uniti Atom

With each player working independently (or together), users can simply add speakers to unleash their music in any room of the house.

Designed to quickly integrate into a wireless home network, the Uniti products facilitate the playback of streaming services that include Spotify Connect and TIDAL, as well as the digital files stored on PCs, Macs and hard drives via the UPnP.

The products also incorporate Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, and Google Cast to allow for the streaming of audio content from iOS and Android devices, and the products support multi-room audio applications.

Looking at the specific components with the line, the Uniti Core is a network-based storage device that supports bit-perfect CD ripping, and a total storage capability of 8TBs, or enough to hold 16,000 CD-quality records, while the all-in-one components incorporate Class A/B amplification and Burr-Brown DACs to ensure smooth quality audio regardless of the audio format.

Naim also offers a companion app for the control of the Uniti line of products as well as front panel user interface options.
